          Counseling & Academic Support

          The mission of the Counseling Office at St. Mark’s School of Texas is to provide assistance to students and their families with academic, behavioral, and emotional concerns. Counseling and Academic Support services include the following:

          Counseling
          • Counseling for students requesting assistance in Lower, Middle, and Upper School
          • Screening for emotional or behavioral concerns
          • Consultation with parents regarding their son’s academic, behavioral, or emotional difficulty
          • Intervention with students and families requesting assistance
          • Coordination of care within the school for students and parents working with a mental health provider outside of the school
          • Referrals to mental health providers in the community
          • Coordination of annual standardized testing (ERB-CTP-IV)
          • Consultation on school wide prevention initiatives:
          • Substance Abuse prevention
          • Bullying prevention
          • Hazing prevention

          Academic Support
          • Screening for academic difficulty
          • Referrals for psychoeducational assessment
          • Coordination of psychoeducational assessment with testing professionals outside of the school
          • Review and evaluation of psychoeducational assessments to determine eligibility for classroom accommodations
          • Development of Individual Learning Plans for eligible students
          • Coordination with College Board and ACT to establish eligibility for accommodations for students with disabilities
